Club del Carmen offers relaxed, modern self-catering accommodation, across a palm-lined road from sandy Pocillos Beach. Occupying a whitewashed villa-style property lined with wood balconies, the resort is a 5-minute drive from both Lanzarote Golf Resort and the centre of Puerto del Carmen, which mixes a “commercial centre” with a “small fishing port and marina... surrounded by numerous cafes and restaurants” (Fodor’s). Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park, with its waterpark and zoo, is a 15-minute walk away, while the “eerie” (Lonely Planet) volcanic landscape of Parque Nacional de Timanfaya, and 16th-century Castillo de Santa Bárbara, which houses a child-friendly museum in the Canaries’ oldest castle, are 20 minutes’ drive from the hotel.
The outdoor pool forms the hub of Club del Carmen, and there’s a separate children’s area and a hot tub. There’s also an outdoor terrace and a rooftop sun deck, as well as table tennis facilities, a pool table and scooters for hire. Guests can enjoy international dishes at the hotel’s poolside bar/restaurant, which hosts regular evening entertainment.
Opening to terraces or balconies, the 1- and 2-bedroom apartments sleep up to six people, and come with kitchens and living areas with sofabeds, as well as free Wi-Fi, TVs and DVD players. There are also 2-bedroom villas spread over two floors and featuring balconies on the upper level.
