The Grande Hotel do Porto is an elegant 19th-century building on a pedestrianised shopping street in the heart of Porto. Many city attractions are within walking distance, and the Bolh?o Metro station is around 300 metres away, making the hotel a good option for those wishing to explore the city.
The hotel is just a couple of minutes from the traditional Mercado do Bolh?o food market. The S?o Bento railway station, which is famous for its tile panels depicting Portuguese history and culture, can be reached on foot in less than 10 minutes.
After a hard day's sightseeing, the hotel's La Torreta Wellness Room offers reviving massages, and there's a fitness room too. The D. Pedro II Restaurant is named after Brazil's former Emperor Dom Pedro II who once found refuge at the hotel with his entourage. The opulent restaurant has crystal chandeliers and serves a menu of traditional Portuguese and international cuisine. Breakfast is served here too and there's a rooftop terrace with city views. The hotel's Windsor Bar also has historical ties and is named as a tribute to King Edward VIII (later the Duke of Windsor), who also once stayed at the hotel.
There are 94 bedrooms including eight suites. Standard rooms are decorated with a colour scheme of brown and white. Suites are more spacious and have integrated living areas.
