The H?tel Carmin is in the centre of Le Havre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Normandy on the banks of the River Seine. It's next to the town hall, a 10-minute walk from the beach and a 10-minute walk from the imposing St Joseph Church.
Visit the picturesque fishing village of Honfleur or the impressive cliffs at Etretat, both 30 minutes by car or 45 minutes by bus (take the bus from the stop right by the hotel). The area is also an ideal base for trips to see the D-Day landing beaches, code-named Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword during World War II.
Le Havre is "bathed in light and space", says The Daily Telegraph -- the Museum of Modern Art is a great place to experience this, as it’s made of glass and metal and looks out over the river. The museum showcases the famous sea light that draws scores of artists to the town. There are a number of restaurants in Le Havre within walking distance of the hotel -- most will serve huge seafood platters and fantastic cheeses.
Rooms at the Carmin have a flat-screen TV and are brightly coloured, with large picture windows. Superior Rooms are 50 square feet bigger than Standard Rooms.
