Mercure Gloucester Bowden Hall Hotel occupies a Grade II-listed country house in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that was built in 1770.
The property is a 20-minute drive from Gloucester. The city's 11th-century cathedral is described as "spectacular" by Lonely Planet, and is one of the "finest examples of the English Perpendicular Gothic style". It has recently been used as a filming location in "Doctor Who", "Sherlock" and three Harry Potter movies. Other attractions in the city centre include Gloucester Docks and the Museum of Gloucester and Art Gallery, while the Jet Age Museum is 20 minutes' drive from the hotel at Gloucester Airport.
Within the hotel you can expect floor-to-ceiling windows, locally inspired artwork and bespoke crystal chandeliers. Bedrooms are set over three floors and are described by The AA as "spacious and nicely appointed", while The Daily Telegraph says the "interior is modern and contemporary in appearance, with a minimalist feel." Many rooms look out over the hotel's 12 acres of private parkland and the surrounding Cotswolds.
The hotel's brasserie restaurant serves British classics, and The Daily Telegraph reviewer said: "service in the restaurant and reception was excellent during my stay. The ma?tre d' knew and performed his job well and was extremely knowledgeable about the food being served."
